Dalila Dalléas Bouzar interrogates her link to personal and collective memory. Connecting portraiture, architecture and cartography, Bouzar’s work navigates the history of place and the individual. Whether creating intimate self-portraits or recapturing remnants of the Algerian War of Independence, Bouzar reinterprets archival photographs and documents through painting, drawing and sculptural materials. Her recent exhibitions include Mix [cited], GVCC Gallery, Casablanca, Instants Vidéos Festival, La Fosse, Marseilles; FLASH!, DX Gallery, Bordeaux, AnneXafriques, Roche de Palmer, Cenon, International Festival of Video Art Casablanca, French Institute, Hassan II University, Morocco (2017) and the Dak’Art – Biennale de l’Art African Contemporain (2016). Bouzar’ s work has been acquired by collections such as FRAC Marseille, France; Fondation Kamel Lazaar, Tunisia; World Bank Foundation, USA and Appartements, Algeria public collection. She is also the recipient of the 2017 “L’Art est Vivant” prize at the Art Paris Art Fair.
