Gallery list announced for 1-54 New York 2017

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair is pleased to announce the selected galleries for its third New York fair at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn!

Taking place across May 5–7, the 2017 New York edition of 1-54 will welcome 19 galleries from Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Ghana, Italy, Kenya, Morocco, the UK, the US and South Africa, showcasing the work of more than 60 contemporary artists of emerging and established profile.

Each year, 1-54 aims to welcome a carefully selected roster of galleries that are dedicated to promoting a diverse set of African perspectives from across the world. This year, the fair will welcome 9 new galleries, further broadening perspectives from and in relation to the continent.

For the third year in a row, 1-54 New York will be accompanied by FORUM, the fair’s critical talks and events program, including artist talks, keynote lectures and panel discussions with international curators, artists, scholars and critics. FORUM is curated by Koyo Kouoh, Artistic Director of RAW Material Company, Dakar. The full FORUM program will be announced in March.

This year’s fair will also include an expanded collateral program of Special Projects, 1-54 non-profit section, with further details to be announced closer to the fair’s opening this spring.
