Dak’Art 2014 Interview
with Vincent Michéa

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at the 11th Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar, Senegal.

Vincent Michéa lives and works in Paris and Dakar. His work spans painting, graphic design and collage, notably drawing on his education in graphic design and typography in his approach. Borrowing from Roy Lichtenstein’s hallmark Ben-Day dots, Michea rearticulates ideas of reproduction, popular culture and influence, producing his iconic portraits and landscapes.

Michea co-founded the studio 100% Dakar, which comprises hand-printed designs and operates on a pop-up basis. He also teaches silkscreen-printing workshops at Ecole Supérieure des Arts Visuels (ESAV) in Marrakech, Morocco.
